Why Manos Is Important to Dr. Richardson
(and why he plays the lottery too)

We sat down with our Clinic Director, Dr. Tom Richardson, to talk to him about his work at Manos' Dental Clinic and why it is important to him. He told he came to Manos out of his desire to give back to the community. When we asked him what it is like working at the clinic, he tells us, "When I drive up at 7 a.m. each morning, there are anywhere from five to fifteen people waiting in line to be treated, many who have been up all night with serious pain." Without Manos, our patients would have extremely limited treatment options as they face what Richardson describes as "potentially life threatening" infections. Read the interview (and find out what he'll do when he wins the lottery).

How Manos is Helping One Working Mother

Hundreds of parents like Elena lined up each morning for Back-to-SchoolElena Morales was one of the many parents who waited in line for Manos' Back-to-School program to prepare their children for school. Her goal is to use her Certificated Nursing Assistant (CNA) qualifications to work in a nursing home to better support her family, and she is using the services that Manos offers to help her realize that goal.

Without Manos, Elena admits she doesn't know where she'd go. She works for a restaurant that does not provide insurance, so she first came to Manos for affordable dental care. Elena has since enrolled in classes and is using the education program of Manos to help her achieve her goals. Read Elena's story.

Manos Prepared 2,221 Children for a New School Year at Back-to-School!

New BackpackThis year our Back-to-School program helped 2,221children to get ready for a new school year! This program is more than a chance to get a new outfit; it isa rare opportunity for the community, volunteers, donors, and families in need to come together and create a positive start to the school year for children who thrive and succeed on the support that Manos gives them.

Thank You to everyone who helped to make it possible, this program would not exist without your support. For more details on the program and to see pictures, click here.
