Welcome to Manos de Cristo

Why We Are Here: When Having a Job Isn’t Enough

According to the Economic Policy Institute, poverty for a single parent of one child is defined as earning $12,830/year or less. For this same family to afford the average two-bedroom apartment in Austin, the parent must earn an annual salary of $32,580 (www.epinet.org). Many of Manos’ clients do not earn enough to keep up with the actual cost of living, despite being employed. We serve these clients through the following programs.

Dental Clinic

Dental health is crucial to overall health and well-being. Manos de Cristo is one of the few organizations dedicated to providing essential dental care to patients without private dental insurance or Medicaid. Learn more. Click here.

Education

Manos de Cristo believes that education is the building block of self-sufficiency. Learn more about our Back-to-School program for children and our adult education and job training classes. Click here.

Food and Clothing

People struggling to make ends meet often must choose between paying the rent or feeding and clothing their families. Learn more about our food pantry and clothes closet. Click here.
